One for the Climate e.V.

Dr. Möller is Oberkirchenrat of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia, which supported the founding of One-for-the-Climate e.V. The church has 2.4 million members. As the head of the Landeskirchenamt, Ulrich Möller is responsible for the fundamental issues relating to the global ecclesiastical responsibility as well as for missionaries and their societies, including the United Evangelical Mission (VEM), the Association of Protestant Churches and Missions (EMW) and Brot für die Welt - Church Development Service. In the area of ecumene, Ulrich Möller works on cultivating relations with other churches and ecumenical project partners and ecclesial associations. In addition, Ulrich Möller accompanies ecumenical model projects and deals intensively with ethical investments and climate justice in the field of one-world responsibility. Last but not least, Dr. Möller maintains contact with the world religions, especially with Islam.

Edgar Boes-Wenner has been working on climate change issues since the late 1980s. He is a founding member and honorary board member of the climate protection cooperative fairPla.net e.G. In his capacity he was involved in the organization and execution of several solar and wind power projects, which were financed with citizen participation.

He acted as project manager of the energy project "World Energy School". For eight years he was a member of the environmental committee of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia.

Dr. Pascal Bataringaya is one of the leading theologians of the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda, which strives for reconciliation between the ethnic groups after the genocide of 1994. Dr. Pascal Bataringaya studied theology - including as a fellow of the United Evangelical Mission (VEM) at the University of Bochum. He wrote his doctoral thesis on "Paths to Reconciliation. The Rwandan churches and the work of reconciliation after the genocide - impulses of peace ethics Dietrich Bonhoeffer ".
As of 2015 he has been President of the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR).

Arline Rüther holds a Masters degree in Political Science from the University of Mindanao in the Philippines and a Masters degree in Development Policy from the University of Bremen in Germany.

As a student she was actively involved in student organizations in the fight against the then dictator Marcos - including as Secretary General of the League of Philippine Students. Later she gained 15 years of experience in development work. She has been working for Bread for the World, the Philippine Women's Organization for Food and Environment, and the Foundation for Philippine Environment. She has been living in Germany for several years, focusing on working with migrants and refugees.

Mark is the Programme Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Programme in the School of Public Leadership; the Academic Director of the Sustainability Institute; and the Co-Director of the Stellenbosch Centre for Complex Systems in Transition. The primary research focus of his career can be defined as ‘societal transitions’ within the broader discipline of sustainability science and governance, with a particular contextual focus on urban sustainability. His published research has been applied to major institution-building collaborations – an achievement that was recognized in 2010 when he was awarded the Aspen Faculty Pioneer Award for success in introducing sustainability into leadership education.

In addition to over 60 academic articles/book chapters, he has published several books including (with Eve Annecke) Just Transitions: Explorations of Sustainability in an Unfair World (2012) – runner-up Harold and Margaret Sprout Award for best environmental governance book; Untamed Urbanisms (2015); and Greening the South African Economy (2016).

Dr Ibrahim Hafeezur Rehman, a British Chevening scholar of the 2000 batch, is presently Senior Director (Europe) with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi, responsible for enhancing collaboration with VITO as well as with other organizations in Europe.

With a doctorate from University of Utrecht, he has over 26 years of experience in projects and activities related to rural development in general, dissemination of Rural Energy Technologies, Natural Resources Management, and Watershed Development in particular. Dr Rehman has worked with bilateral agencies, corporate set-up and NGOs on issues of poverty alleviation. His key areas of focus include involving and consolidating grassroots institutions, undertaking initiatives pertaining to market development for clean energy technologies in rural areas and implementing replicable models of efficient management of natural resources at the grassroots level.

Dr Rehman has worked in different countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Thailand, Belgium, etc. He is a co-author of three books and has written several papers/articles in reputed journals and magazines.

Dr. Alex Malasusa who is holder of Bachelor of Divinity Degree from the Makumira University College became pastor in 1992. Bishop Malasusa is taking a Master of Theology studies by extension at the Catholic Theology College in Nairobi, Kenya.

He was consecrated Bishop of the Eastern and Coastal Diocese based in Dar es Salaam in 2004.

From 2007 until 2015 he was the Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT)

He is a member in the Central Committee of World Council of Churches.

Dieter Seifried is founder and managing director of Ö-quadrat. From 2011 to 2015, he was a lecturer at the University of Freiburg in the Department of forestry, where he taught energy efficiency and energy policy framework conditions. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of ADEV Windkraft AG as well as a member of the Supervisory Board of the Business Association 100% Renewable Energy and the Genossenschaft fesa-Energie Geno e.G.

From 1983 to 1999 he was an employee, coordinator and project manager at the Öko-Institut. Climate-friendly concepts for the energy transition, cost efficient planning, contracting and the "green electricity" were the focus of his work.

Since 1996 Josef Tumbrinck is the North Rhine-Westphalian regional chairman of the German Nature Conservation Association e.V. (NABU). He studied geography at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster. Beginning in his youth, he was involved in nature conservation and built up the nature conservation youth (NAJU). Since 1985 he is a member of the state executive committee North Rhine-Westphalia of the NABU.

Dr. Srivastava has over thirty years of experience in the fields of energy and environment, including climate change, policy and economics. She holds a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Hyderabad and a Ph.D in Energy Economics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India.

In 2008, the Prime Minister of the Republic of France awarded Dr Srivastava with the Knight of the Order of Academic Palms (Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Academiques). She has also received a Certificate of Recognition from the Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh, and the IPCC for her contribution to the work of the IPCC. She has also been invited as a Richard von Weizsacker Fellow of the Robert Bosch Stiftung in 2012/13.

She is a member of various committees and boards both at the international and national level, including the Executive Committee of the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative of the UN Secretary General. She is an Independent and Non-Executive Director on the Boards of Bharti Infratel Ltd. and Shree Cement Ltd. and Board Member of the Meridian Institute; World Environment Center and Stockholm Resilience Centre. At a think tank/science level: she is a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) to reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs), UNEP; International Advisory Board of the Helmholtz Programme Technology, Innovation and Society (TIS) and the Holmholtz Alliance Future Infrastructures for Meeting Energy Demands - Towards Sustainability and Social Compatibility Initiative (ENERGY-TRANS); Research Advisory Committee, WWF-India.. She was a Co-ordinating Lead Author for Working Group III of the Third Assessment Report of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and cross-cutting theme Anchor on "Sustainable Development" for the Fourth Assessment Report of the IPCC.

Dr Srivastava is on the Editorial Boards of various international journals dealing with energy and environment issues and has a number of publications to her credit. She has a Masters in Economics from the University of Hyderabad and a Ph.D in Energy Economics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India.

Dr Paul Hendler has 30 years experience in formulating policies, planning strategies and building capacity in the housing and human settlements fields. His experience includes being a founder member of the NGO Planact during the 1980s, as well as working in the private sector.

His professional experience includes research, managing and analysing employee housing surveys, providing employee housing administration services, leasing for inner city rental housing in Johannesburg, capacity building and training in the areas of housing finance and tenant management (social housing), and managing large scale consulting teams in the execution of a range of human settlement-related strategies and strategy implementation work. Paul is also a founder member of INSITE.

He attends monthly members meetings in his capacity as the executive member involved in the day-to-day running of INSITE and its projects, including the management of the financial accounting and administration of INSITE.

INSITE’s sensitive approach to the need to build independent community organisation reflects Paul’s involvement on a voluntary basis providing leadership, in addition to administration and accounting services to a neighbourhood NGO in Stellenbosch (where he is based) that is involved in community upliftment, nature conservation and sustainable development.

Hermann E. Ott, he began his active involvement in environmental protection, with threats of close of the Rieselfelder, a bird sanctuary not far from his hometown of Münster.

He studied law and political science in Munich, London and Berlin. He spent is legal traineeship in the environmental area of the legal service of the former EC Commission in Brussels, at the Ozone Secretariat of the UN Environment Program UNEP in Nairobi and in the law firm Schily, Becker, Geulen. His preoccupation with the Montreal Protocol for the protection of the ozone layer in Brussels and Nairobi inspired him to write his doctoral thesis on environmental regimes in international law.

From 1994 to 2018 he worked at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy, first as project manager. From 1998 as acting director of the department Climate Policy and from 2001 as director of the same department. From November 2000 to June 2001 he worked in the planning department of the Federal Foreign Office. In 2004 he moved to Berlin and built up the capital office of the institute. There he was responsible for representation and consulting as well as project acquisition and networking.

From 2009 to 2013 he was a member of the German Bundestag. As a climate policy spokesman, he represented the Bündnis90 / Die Grünen faction in the Environment Committee and the Petitions Committee. He was chairman of the faction in the Enquete Commission "Growth, prosperity, quality of life" and chairman of its project group 3 for the decoupling of growth and resource consumption ".

Since 2014, he has been working as Senior Advisor for Global Sustainability and Welfare Strategies at the Wuppertal Institute. In July 2016, he was appointed to an honorary professorship at the University for Sustainable Development in Eberswalde, where he teaches in the master's program "Global Change Management".
